WASNJ | Start with Teacher Training and Embark on a Commitment to Excellence
Dedicated to academic rigour and the art of education, in August 2025, WAS Nanjing launched the new school year with a two-week series of high-quality, intensive teacher training sessions.
Every year is a fresh start, and this year we want ‘academic advancement’ to be at the heart of what we do. Not merely chasing grades, but ensuring that every child gains solid knowledge and confidence at a pace that suits them, said Matthew Jamieson, Executive Head of WAS Nanjing, at the opening of the teacher training programme. His words conveyed WAS’s educational ethos: Every child can excel.
We aim for our academic system to keep pace with international standards, and for the belief that ‘every child can excel’ to be realised in every lesson and in every instance of care. As Peter Broegger, Chief Operating Officer of the WAS International Group, noted, reflecting on the establishment of WAS schools in China, and looking ahead to new campuses in South Korea and other South Asia areas, WAS has always prioritised its students.
From overarching philosophy to practical implementation, from academic standards to student care, this training served not only as a ‘refinement’ of teachers’ professional skills but also as a ‘strengthening’ of the school’s educational commitment, demonstrating to every family that the rigour we apply to academics and the care we offer to children are always ongoing.
