  • Ning Tian
    Founding Headmaster
    Ning Tian, Associate Professor, has extensive educational management theory and practical experience.

    Before serving as Chinese Founding Headmaster of Wycombe Abbey School Nanjing, Mr Tian was involved in teaching and educational management in XiaoZhuang University for 39 years. During that period, he also served as Headmaster of Nanjing Experimental International School, overseeing the successful running of all phases of the school from Kindergarten through to Lower School and Upper School. During his tenure as Headmaster the school underwent tremendous growth and development.

    During his time as Headmaster, Mr Tian was unanimously recognized by all parties of Nanjing society and elected as the Vice President and Executive Vice President of Nanjing Private Education Association, a position he has now held for 20 years.
  • Christopher Chadwick
    Executive Headmaster
    Christopher Chadwick has worked in Hong Kong since 2000 and joins WASNJ from his role as the Principal of the Korean International School in Hong Kong. Born in the UK, he received his Bachelor of Education degree from the University of London and his Master of Education degree from the University of Bath. Christopher’s previous roles included Headteacher at the French School in Hong Kong as well as teaching and leadership roles in international schools in Malaysia, Singapore, and Germany. He will bring a wealth of experience to the educational leadership at Wycombe Abbey International Schools.
  • Stuart Hunter
    Deputy Head
    Mr. Hunter is formerly the Housemaster of Newton, Assistant Head of Enrichment in WAS Changzhou, with over 15 years of experience in international teaching and school management in China, the UK, and the USA. He also previously served as the Head of Mathematics Department at Manchester College in the UK. Mr. Hunter holds a Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering and Architecture from the University of Sheffield, UK, and a Master's degree in Sustainable Energy Science from Brunel University, UK.
  • Ryno Engelke
    Deputy Head of Pastoral
    Mr. Engelke holds a Master's degree in Educational Leadership and Management from Keele University, UK, with 5 years of experience in teaching and management in primary and secondary schools. He formerly taught at Hangzhou Foreign Language School and served as the Housemaster. He also has extensive experience in teaching extracurricular activities such as Rugby.
  • John Wright
    Deputy Head of Extension
    John Wright holds a Bachelor of Music from the University of Cambridge and a Master of M.Mus. Advanced Music Analysis and Historical Musicology from the University of London. He has 18 years of experience in music teaching, guidance and educational management. He has led the development of music departments in several top secondary schools in the UK and China, serving as Music Director/Performing Arts Director and Director of Career Development. As a piano accompanist and chamber music player, he has performed at Hong Kong City Hall, Liverpool Philharmonic Hall and other venues in the UK and Asia.
  • Qiang Yuan
    Chinese Head of Upper School
    Before joining WASNJ, Mr. Qiang Yuan worked as the Executive Head for Upper School at Nanjing Experimental International School. He has undertaken various roles of leadership in his 30 years professional background. Mr. Yuan has been known for encouraging his students to always pursuit down-to-earth progress as part of their learning process.

    Mr. Yuan believes that education is the conversation between two souls. He expects to contribute at WASNJ and is ready to witness the growth of every student here.
